Replacement fish market adding to multi-million £ investment

There's a positive future ahead for the Shetland fishing industry, with multi-million £ investment in the white fish and pelagic sectors reflecting renewed confidence. That’s the message from Sandra Laurenson, Chief Executive of Lerwick Port Authority, on its return as an exhibitor to Skipper Expo International in Aberdeen (25-26 May 2018).

Latest phase in development of fishing industry hub 

Construction of Lerwick Harbour’s replacement white fish market is scheduled to begin this month (May 2018) in a project more than doubling landings’ capacity at the Shetland port.

Following competitive tendering, Tulloch Developments Ltd has been appointed main contractor by Lerwick Port Authority, with completion in early-2020. Design has been undertaken by Arch Henderson which will also manage the build project. 

Offshore wind turbine project utilities Port Of Tyne

The deep-water heavy lift vessel Aegir is set to undertake a number of highly complex heavy lifting operations at the Port of Tyne’s Northumbrian Quay in North Shields.

The 4,000 ton heavy lift capacity vessel operated by Netherlands based Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) will be in the river for around two weeks during which time a number of wind turbine jackets will be transported down river from Smulders Projects UK, based in Wallsend.
